Learning Target I can fit a straight line in scatter plots that suggest a linear association, assess the model fit by judging the closeness of the line, and know that straight lines are used to model relationships between two quantitative variables. (MGSE8.SP.2 ) Learning Activities Today you will learn how to fit a straight line in a scatter plot. By watching the following two videos you will discover how to find the middle of the data, use the slope and y-intercept to create a linear function, and identify the best line of fit for a scatter plot. After watching the video, you will then complete a short USA Test Prep assignment called "Line of Best Fit". Note After reviewing your work and speaking with many of you, I have decided to start providing tutoring sessions that will help fill in your gaps of knowledge. Tomorrow, I will provide a schedule of topics to be covered and instructions of how to participate. The first mini-lesson will begin on Friday, March 27th. If there is a specific topic or area that you would like to see covered, please send me an e-mail or message me through GroupMe. As always, if you have any questions, send me a message through GroupMe or e-mail me at [email protected]. Fitting Lines to Scatter PlotsIdentifying the Line of Best Fit
